The Ed.D. in Interdisciplinary Educational Studies is a research-based doctoral program designed to prepare you for a leadership role in public and private schools, from kindergarten through high school and colleges and universities. The Doctor of Education is the highest degree focusing on the practice of education. The program designs to give you the opportunity to use practical applications such as technology in the classroom. It involves an integration of disciplinary insights. The program is designed to give students an interdisciplinary research experience along with a broad-based academic background in different fields. I chose this program because it will take my academic interest and research interest to the next level.
Area of Concentration: Teaching and Learning
This concentration will provide advanced training for a wide range of professionals who will work with diverse populations of children and adult learners. Educators need to understand models for effectively developing and implementing educational programs that include students who – by virtue of their instructional, cultural, socioeconomic, linguistic, intellectual, emotional and psychological backgrounds – bring different and/or additional requirements to the classroom. Key players need to provide a well-orchestrated program through the coordinated efforts of educational teams.
